Adult Summer Volunteer Opportunity for AYM

Asheville Youth Mission (AYM) is in need of adults to serve along side middle and high school students volunteering at 25 local nonprofits during the summer months.  You may have the opportunity to work at Manna Food Bank, Black Mountain Home for Children, Veterans Restoration Quarters, Homeward Bound and many more.  Contact Debbie Alford, 980-428-2441 or AYMDebbie@gmail.com for more information.

AYM Needs Free Housing for One Male Intern

The interns will be at Montreat most of the time, doing their service work. If you have a private room and bath you'd like to offer, please contact Heather Brown, hbrown8@gmail.com, 551-3755, or Mark Ramsey, mramsey@gcpcusa.org. Orientation provided by Asheville Youth Mission to both intern and host. There are guidelines in place to make this arrangement fun, smooth, and safe for everyone involved. Donations to Asheville Youth Mission

As our community mourns our beloved Aimee Buchanan, many of us are looking for ways to honor her memory. Here's one way: The Buchanan and Wallis families have asked that, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Aimee make a donation to Asheville Youth Mission. Asheville Youth Mission at Grace Covenant

In 2011, AYM hosted over 1,300 youth and college students doing mission work in Asheville.   Youth who come to AYM do all kinds of work from sweating it out in the fields to playing and laughing with children. We logged in over 7,600 hours of service at many of the same agencies Grace Covenant faithfully supports.  

This summer, Grace Covenant offered its lawn to AYM for 2 events for the children of Project MARCH (a program of Children First/CIS).  Project MARCH is an After School Club and Summer Camp for children living in the communities of Pisgah View, Deaver View, and Woodridge.  The participants in AYM-led games, music, energizers, water activities, and spent lots of time playing and laughing with the kids.  Recreation is re-creation for all who are involved.  It is restorative.  We watched children come with frowns and leave with big smiles.
