Community Garden News

  • Boxes, boxes, and more boxes! We need all team members to help gather waxed boxes for the garden vegetables. Boxes are crucial to facilitate the level of gardening we do. They can be broken down and stored in the shed for future use when we're done. It is easy, all you do is ask your favorite grocery store. Since waxed boxes cannot be recycled, they are usually happy to give them away.
  • Do you have muscles? Then we need you! Hauling the veggie-laden boxes from the garden to the parking lot is hard work. It would be very appreciated if a few of you muscle-bound folks would stick around after harvesting and help with this heavy task. Thank you!
  • The Mission of our Community Garden is to provide fresh, nutritious veggies to our neighbors who would otherwise go without. So in addition to the actual gardening (tilling, sowing, tending, weeding, harvesting, etc), there's also the collecting of waxed boxes, loading the boxes, and DELIVERING the food. We are asking each Garden Team to provide a willing person to deliver the boxes of veggies at the end of each workday.
  • Reminder: This Saturday we will complete harvesting the Napa Cabbage. After the cabbage harvest we will till and plant the tomatoes and peppers! A few extra hands would be nice-so if you are looking for a real good time come on over to the garden site!
