News From Guatemala

September 15 is Independence Day in Guatemala.  All weekend long, there were celebrations in Coatepeque and the entire country.  Sister Valentina Cardona of the Jerusalem Church was named Distinguished Citizen for all the civic and charitable work she has done throughout her life.  She was invited to march in the Coatepeque parade with other people recognized as Distinguished Citizens.   Congratulations to Sister Valentina (in pink at left), a faithful church member who has been a big supporter of the partnership between her church and Grace Covenant.   Valentina is the sister of Maria (Cardona de) Torres, who visited us in 2011 with the Guatemala delegation.
