Help Wanted for Guatemala Partnership

WANTED: GUATEMALA PARTNERSHIP COMMITTEE MEMBERS

Help shape our church´s involvement with partner Jerusalem Church of Coatepeque, Guatemala.  Knowledge of Spanish is not essential.  Essential is enthusiastic participation so this remains a vital part of GCPC’s ministry.

Duties of the committee:
--work with Jerusalem Church to develop 2015-2020 covenants.
--interpret the partnership via publicity and events
--encourage involvement of GCPC groups and individuals.
--plan trips to Guatemala and trip fundraisers
--plan visits from Guatemalans and visit fundraisers
--develop cooperative projects; support Presbytery-led projects

WANTED: GUATEMALA SCHOLARSHIP COORDINATOR(S)

This job is perfect for two friends who want to share the workload and inspire each other. There will be plenty of guidance from GCPC people and the Presbytery’s Guatemala Partnership Education Committee.

Knowledge of Spanish is not necessary.  Translation help is available at GCPC when needed.  Enthusiasm and a desire to make a huge difference in the lives of children in Guatemala are the main requirements!

Duties:
-- encouraging the congregation to keep the students in their prayers year-round
--fundraising (publicity, direct solicitation letters, alternative Christmas giving, etc.) before the annual transmission of funds in October
--reporting to the congregation how the scholarship monies have helped students

Contact Lynne Meacham (larkm99@gmail.com) or Carolyn Horton (chorton002@charter.net) for further information.

WANTED: VIRTUAL VISITS COORDINATOR(S)

The “Virtual Visits” idea was suggested by a busy parent of small children:  matching GCPC and Jerusalem Church families or individuals for relationship building using modern electronic media.  Think “pen pals” in the 21st century using Skype, video, Facebook, etc.  Not everyone is ready or able to travel and meet in person, but with modern technology, we can get to know our Guatemalan brothers and sisters.

Knowledge of Spanish is helpful but not essential.  Translation and interpretation help are available at GCPC.  More important is knowledge of electronic media and its potential for community-building.  The job could be shared by two persons.

Duties:
   --develop communication guidelines
  --recruit participants
  --monitor and troubleshoot as needed
  --evaluate the program.

Contact Lynne Meacham (larkm99@gmail.com) or Carolyn Horton (chorton002@charter.net)  for further information.
