The
microloan project begun by our presbytery's Presbyterian Woman and
women from our two partner presbyteries in Guatemala is under way. In
April, 36 women received business training from Guatemalan non-profit
ADEHGUA. They were given $125 loans to embark on or expand business
ventures. ADEHGUA reports that "the women have asked us to convey a
special appreciation for this support. They are very excited that this
project has begun and that it is a project of women. They have much
faith that it will go very well."
After
the loans are repaid in October, 2015, a second cycle will begin.
Please pray for ADEHGUA and for the 36 women as they implement their
projects. If you would like to receive email updates, notify Mimi
Michael at mimimichael17@gmail.com.
Gifts are needed for the next cycle and to expand the project. Send
checks made out to PW PWNC with notation "Guatemala Microloan Fund" and
send to Becky Lineberger, PW Treasurer, 1738 Charles Raper Jonas Hwy.,
Mt. Holly, NC 28120.
The
Microloan Task Force includes some GCPC members: Barbara McLean, Jamie
Beasley, Ginnie Stevens, and Buzz Durham. Gladis Miguel de Pérez, of our
partner Jerusalem Church of Coatepeque, also works on the project.
