Read to Succeed Volunteers Needed

Read to Succeed (R2S)

Read to Succeed (R2S) is recruiting volunteer reading coaches for children K-3 in the Asheville City Schools who are struggling to read.  A nonprofit started with the aim of assisting the Asheville schools in closing the achievement gap, R2S  works with children from low-literacy households who are at high risk for reading problems. Volunteer coaches meet one-on-one with students for 45 minutes, 2 days a week, during school hours. "Reading Buddies" commit to a less frequent schedule, meeting once per week for 45 minutes. The Spring 2016 training program begins with a Q&A session on February 18 in the R2S office in the Pisgah View Apartments at 16A Stewart Street, followed by a training program which meets 3 times per week from 2/23 - 3/19.
